Naviguant entre New York et son Andalousie natale, Antonio Lizana est devenu en quelques années l’un des représentants les plus célèbres du jazz flamenco. Saxophoniste, chanteur et auteur-compositeur, il réinvente la tradition en mêlant jazz de haut vol, chant incarné et rythmes ibériques.
Le voici sur scène avec son nouvel album Vishuddha.
Avec lui, le saxophone a définitivement acquis droit de cité dans l’instrumentarium flamenco. Antonio Lizana concilie dans ses compositions simplicité apparente et sophistication mélodique, inventant ici la fusion harmonieuse entre chanson, jazz, et flamenco, accompagné d’un trio composé de la fine fleur des jazzmen madrilènes plus un danseur.
Ces dernières années, Antonio Lizana a donné plus de trois cents concerts dans pas moins de trente pays. Impressionnant passeport. Sa formation a été accueillie par les plus prestigieux festivals de flamenco de Newyork, Londres, San Francisco, Barcelone, ou encore à la ScèneNationale de LaRochelle, l’Astrada de Marciac, les Festival de jazz de Madrid, Shangai, Casablanca… Depuis le début de son projet, en 2012, quatre albums ont été édités et l’artiste s’est produit sur scène aux côtés de figures internationales prestigieuses telles que Snarky Puppy, Marcus Miller, Chano Domínguez ou ShaiMaestro.
Ses collaborations avec Arturo O’Farrill et Alejandro Sanz lui ont valu deux Latin Grammy Awards (Las Vegas, USA).
Sur scène avec son nouvel album Vishuddha, le natif de Cadix nous transporte des racines du flamenco au jazz le plus inventif, avec, culture andalouse oblige, un soupçon de sonorités mauresques et une pincée de culture gitane.
