Accès Nationale 66, à l’office de tourisme de St Maurice sur Moselle prendre la D486 qui se situe juste en face et monter jusqu’au sommet du col. Départ Maison du tourisme au sommet du Col du Ballon d’Alsace. Parcours Depuis le parking de la Maison du tourisme, dirigez-vous vers la forêt à l’arrière du monument « L’Homme projeté » en suivant le chemin centrale entre le chalet dédié au ski de fond et le panneau « Réserve naturelle des Ballons Comtois » (balisage disque jaune/ rectangle rouge GR5). Engagez-vous dans la forêt A la première intersection (après le panneau « forêt domaniale du Ballon d’Alsace » ), prenez à droite et suivez le balisage anneau bleu « Chemin Colas ». Au carrefour 30m plus loin, prenez à nouveau à droite en suivant le même balisage « Ballon d’Alsace 1h30 par le sentier Colas Jumenterie 0h45 ». Suivez le sentier sur environ 1km. Profitez-en pour observer le Ballon de Servance sur votre gauche, qui se caractérise par son antenne au sommet. Vous arriverez à un petit espace déboisé bordant la route goudronnée. Suivez le sentier qui monte sur la droite (anneau bleu « Jumenterie »).- Montez pendant environ 200m cette petite partie assez raide, jusqu’au parc à vaches dans lequel vous pénétrez. Traversez le champ puis longez la route en restant dans le pré jusqu’au bâtiment en face de vous (la Jumenterie). Traversez la route, passez devant le bâtiment de la Jumenterie puis longez-le par la droite en suivant le sentier qui monte (disque rouge, direction « Sommet du Ballon ») Vous arrivez à un petit chalet (le disque rouge se trouve sur le côté gauche de celui-ci). Vous pourrez profiter d’une table de pique-nique et de la présence des vaches vosgiennes (selon la saison). Dos à la table de pique-nique, empruntez le sentier montant qui passe sous le téléski. Sortez du parc à vaches en suivant le sentier, puis continuez sur environ 600m, à travers la forêt et les myrtilliers. Arrivés à une clairière, suivez le sentier et longez le pré sur votre droite. En fonction du temps et de la saison, vous pourrez peut-être admirer des chevaux. Vous pouvez rejoindre « le Sentier Découverte » en prenant à gauche et monter à la statue de Jeanne d’Arc. Attraversate il campo e seguite la strada lungo il prato fino a raggiungere l’edificio di fronte a voi (la Jumenterie). Potrete godere di un tavolo da picnic e della presenza di mucche dei Vosgi (a seconda della stagione). Dando le spalle al tavolo da picnic, prendete il sentiero in salita che passa sotto lo skilift. Seguite il sentiero che esce dal parco delle mucche, poi proseguite per circa 600 m attraverso il bosco e i cespugli di mirtilli. Una volta raggiunta una radura, seguite il sentiero lungo il prato sulla destra. A seconda del tempo e della stagione, si possono vedere alcuni cavalli. È possibile unirsi al « Discovery Trail » girando a sinistra e salendo fino alla statua di Giovanna d’Arco. In alternativa, girate a destra e tornate al punto di partenza.
