Les nombreux passages solistes, entre approche jazzy et minimalisme, insufflent à cette oeuvrechoc des sonorités inattendues, loin de la tradition du cinéma muet des années 20.

L’Énigme (The Riddle) is a fast-moving love affair headed for inevitable tragedy, with the presence of Marlene Dietrich as the femme fatale who sets her sights on a poor man played by Uno Henning.

Performed by the contemporary ensemble United Instruments of Lucilin, the score by composer and vibraphonist Pascal Schumacher meticulously underlines the film’s moments of dramatic tension. The many solo passages, somewhere between a jazzy approach and minimalism, breathe unexpected sonorities into this shock work, far removed from the tradition of silent cinema of the 20s.

Eseguita dall’ensemble contemporaneo United Instruments of Lucilin, la colonna sonora del compositore e vibrafonista Pascal Schumacher sottolinea meticolosamente i momenti di tensione drammatica del film. I numerosi passaggi solistici, a metà tra l’approccio jazzistico e il minimalismo, infondono sonorità inaspettate a quest’opera shock, lontana dalla tradizione del cinema muto degli anni Venti.
