Né entre Lyon et Ouagadougou, KUMA KURA est la rencontre entre Richard Monségu (Cie Antiquarks) et Jahkasa, chanteur-balafoniste burkinabè. Ensemble, ils inventent une langue musicale nouvelle, unissant reggae, jazz, rock progressif et sonorités traditionnelles d’Afrique de l’Ouest.
Porté par une démarche décoloniale et humaniste, le projet célèbre l’amitié entre les peuples et questionne les frontières culturelles. Enregistré à Ouagadougou, l’album fait dialoguer balafon, flûte peule, n’goni, guitare et batterie dans un groove vibrant et transcontinental.

KUMA KURA sera en tournée en France en 2025–2026, avant de poursuivre sa route en Afrique de l’Ouest.

Born between Lyon and Ouagadougou, KUMA KURA is the encounter between Richard Monségu (Cie Antiquarks) and Jahkasa, a singer-balafonist from Burkina Faso. Together, they invented a new musical language, uniting reggae, jazz, progressive rock and traditional West African sounds.
Driven by a decolonial and humanist approach, the project celebrates friendship between peoples and questions cultural boundaries. Recorded in Ouagadougou, the album features balafon, Peul flute, n?goni, guitar and drums in a vibrant, transcontinental groove.

KUMA KURA will be touring France in 2025?2026, before continuing on to West Africa.
