Cette exposition, mêlant art et science, est une invitation à explorer une belle vallée des Pyrénées, riche d’une insoupçonnable biodiversité. C’est aussi un voyage dans le temps, avec la découverte de grands botanistes qui ont marqué l’histoire.

La vallée d’Eyne, nichée au cœur des Pyrénées orientales, se caractérise par une biodiversité exceptionnelle et doit sa notoriété aux travaux d’illustres naturalistes tels que Gouan ou De Candolle. L’exposition présente un parcours historique, scientifique et artistique à la découverte d’espèces remarquables. Elle reconstitue l’histoire des premiers botanistes qui, de la fin du XVIe siècle au début du XIXe siècle, ont étudié la flore pyrénéenne.
Elle montre aussi concrètement comment ces naturalistes pratiquaient la botanique en bibliothèque, sur le terrain ou dans des cabinets d’histoire naturelle, avec quelques repères sur les classifications végétales.
Une sélection de peintures de Christophe Eckes consacrées à des espèces emblématiques de cette vallée s’ajoutent aux planches d’herbier et aux ouvrages des bibliothèques Stanislas et du jardin botanique pour illustrer l’exposition.
Une exposition imaginée par le laboratoire Archives Henri-Poincaré Philosophie et Recherches sur les Sciences et les Technologies (Université de Lorraine), conçue avec les équipes du jardin botanique.

This exhibition, combining art and science, is an invitation to explore a beautiful Pyrenean valley, rich in unsuspected biodiversity. It’s also a journey through time, with the discovery of great botanists who have left their mark on history.

The Eyne valley, nestled in the heart of the eastern Pyrenees, boasts exceptional biodiversity and owes its fame to the work of illustrious naturalists such as Gouan and De Candolle. The exhibition presents a historical, scientific and artistic journey of discovery of remarkable species. It tells the story of the first botanists to study Pyrenean flora, from the end of the 16th century to the beginning of the 19th.
It also shows in concrete terms how these naturalists practiced botany in libraries, in the field or in natural history cabinets, with a few pointers on plant classification.
A selection of paintings by Christophe Eckes, devoted to emblematic species of the valley, are used to illustrate the exhibition, alongside herbarium plates and works from the Stanislas and Jardin Botanique libraries.

Diese Ausstellung, die Kunst und Wissenschaft miteinander verbindet, ist eine Einladung, ein schönes Tal in den Pyrenäen zu erkunden, das reich an einer ungeahnten Artenvielfalt ist. Sie ist auch eine Reise in die Vergangenheit, auf der Sie große Botaniker entdecken, die die Geschichte geprägt haben.

Das Tal von Eyne im Herzen der östlichen Pyrenäen zeichnet sich durch eine außergewöhnliche Biodiversität aus und verdankt seine Bekanntheit den Arbeiten berühmter Naturforscher wie Gouan oder De Candolle. Die Ausstellung bietet eine historische, wissenschaftliche und künstlerische Entdeckungsreise zu bemerkenswerten Arten. Sie rekonstruiert die Geschichte der ersten Botaniker, die vom Ende des 16. bis zum Anfang des 19. Jahrhunderts die Pyrenäenflora erforschten.
Sie zeigt auch konkret, wie diese Naturforscher die Botanik in Bibliotheken, auf dem Feld oder in naturhistorischen Kabinetten praktizierten, mit einigen Anhaltspunkten zu den Pflanzenklassifikationen.
Eine Auswahl von Gemälden von Christophe Eckes, die emblematischen Arten dieses Tals gewidmet sind, ergänzt die Herbartafeln und Werke der Bibliotheken Stanislas und des Botanischen Gartens, um die Ausstellung zu illustrieren.
Die Ausstellung wurde vom Laboratoire Archives Henri-Poincaré Philosophie et Recherches sur les Sciences et les Technologies (Université de Lorraine) in Zusammenarbeit mit den Mitarbeitern des Botanischen Gartens konzipiert.

La valle dell’Eyne, nel cuore dei Pirenei orientali, vanta una biodiversità eccezionale e deve la sua fama al lavoro di illustri naturalisti come Gouan e De Candolle. La mostra accompagna i visitatori in un viaggio storico, scientifico e artistico alla scoperta di alcune specie straordinarie. Racconta la storia dei primi botanici che hanno studiato la flora dei Pirenei, dalla fine del XVI secolo all’inizio del XIX.
Mostra anche concretamente come questi naturalisti praticavano la botanica nelle biblioteche, sul campo o nei gabinetti di storia naturale, con alcune indicazioni sulla classificazione delle piante.
La mostra è illustrata da una selezione di dipinti di Christophe Eckes che ritraggono specie emblematiche della valle, oltre che da tavole d’erbario e opere provenienti dalle biblioteche dello Stanislas e dell’Orto Botanico.

El valle de Eyne, enclavado en el corazón de los Pirineos orientales, posee una biodiversidad excepcional y debe su fama a la obra de ilustres naturalistas como Gouan y De Candolle. La exposición lleva a los visitantes a un viaje histórico, científico y artístico para descubrir algunas especies notables. Cuenta la historia de los primeros botánicos que estudiaron la flora de los Pirineos, desde finales del siglo XVI hasta principios del XIX.
También muestra concretamente cómo estos naturalistas practicaban la botánica en las bibliotecas, en el campo o en los gabinetes de historia natural, con algunas indicaciones sobre la clasificación de las plantas.
La exposición se ilustra con una selección de cuadros de Christophe Eckes que representan especies emblemáticas del valle, junto con láminas de herbario y obras de las bibliotecas Stanislas y del Jardín Botánico.
