Cette exposition réunit une série de peintures où le monde animal devient un territoire sensible, entre apparition et disparition. À travers une peinture instinctive mêlant abstraction et figuration, Matthieu Gauthier fait émerger des présences traversées par la force, la fragilité et la mémoire du vivant. Matières superposées, gestes spontanés et contrastes donnent naissance à des figures animales à la fois puissantes et vulnérables.

Son travail cherche moins à représenter l’animal qu’à révéler une présence intérieure, presque silencieuse, à la frontière du visible et le l’invisible.

Matthieu Gauthier développe une œuvre centrée sur la représentation sensible du vivant, où regards humains et présences animales occupent une place essentielle. Entre abstraction et figuration, sa peinture fait émerger les formes d’une matière spontanée, faite de gestes, de superpositions et d’accidents chromatiques. Ses portraits cherchent moins la ressemblance fidèle qu’une présence intérieure et émotionnelle. À travers la peinture à l’huile et les médiums mixtes, il développe une approche instinctive et expressive, il explore le lien entre force et fragilité, visible et invisible. This exhibition brings together a series of paintings in which the animal world becomes a sensitive realm, hovering between appearance and disappearance. Through an instinctive style that blends abstraction and figuration, Matthieu Gauthier brings forth presences imbued with the strength, fragility, and memory of living beings. Layered textures, spontaneous gestures, and contrasts give rise to animal figures that are both powerful and vulnerable.

His work seeks not so much to represent the animal as to reveal an inner, almost silent presence, on the border between the visible and the invisible.

Matthieu Gauthier develops a body of work centered on the sensitive representation of living beings, in which human gazes and animal presences play an essential role. Straddling abstraction and figuration, his painting brings forth forms from a spontaneous material, composed of gestures, layers, and chromatic accidents. His portraits seek not so much a faithful likeness as an inner, emotional presence. Through oil painting and mixed media, he develops an instinctive and expressive approach, exploring the connection between strength and fragility, the visible and the invisible. His work has been featured in exhibitions in the United States, China, Germany, Belgium, Luxembourg, and France, affirming an artistic practice with an international scope.
