L’église Notre-Dame de Seuil est érigée en 1926 sur l’emplacement de la précédente église, datée des XVe et XVIe siècles et détruite par les bombardements de 1918. Elle fête cette année ses 100 ans ! Construite dans le style Art déco, elle conserve toutefois un portail du XIIe et du mobilier des XVIIe, XVIIIe et XIXe siècles.Elle est dotée d’un vitrail commémoratif de la Première Guerre mondiale, une œuvre originale de René Crevel, détruite en 1940 et refaite à l’identique en 2012 par Jean-Marc Paguet, vitrailliste à Vouziers. Elle contient aussi des vitraux de Charles Marq. Au cours d’une visite guidée à 15h , l’histoire de l’église actuelle sera notamment retracée, ainsi que celle de l’ancienne église, détruite en 1918. Suivra une description détaillée du mobilier ayant échappé aux bombardements, du mobilier art déco et des œuvres récemment restaurées. La visite pourra se prolonger dans la sacristie , exceptionnellement ouverte pour l’occasion, puis dans le clocher , jusqu’à la chambre des cloches. — Toute l’après-midi, vous pourrez découvrir librement l’histoire de l’église actuelle, ainsi que celle de l’ancienne, détruite en 1918, au moyen d’un petit fascicule mis à votre disposition. Vous y trouverez une présentation du mobilier remarquable qu’abrite l’église Notre-Dame. Un bénévole présent sur place, pourra répondre à vos questions. La visite pourra se poursuivre dans la sacristie , exceptionnellement ouverte pour l’occasion.

The Notre-Dame de Seuil Church was built in 1926 on the site of the previous church, which dated from the 15th and 16th centuries and was destroyed by bombing in 1918. It is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year! Built in the Art Deco style, it nevertheless retains a 12th-century portal and furnishings from the 17th, 18th, and 19th centuries. It features a stained-glass window commemorating World War I,World War I, an original work by René Crevel, which was destroyed in 1940 and faithfully recreated in 2012 by Jean-Marc Paguet, a stained-glass artist in Vouziers. It also contains stained-glass windows by Charles Marq. During a guided tour at 3:00 p.m., the history of the current church will be recounted, as well as that of the former church, which was destroyed in 1918. This will be followed by a detailed description of the furnishings that survived the bombings, the Art Deco furnishings, and the recently restored works of art. The tour may continue into the sacristy—which will be open exceptionally for this occasion—and then up the bell tower to the bell chamber. — Throughout the afternoon, you’ll be free to explore the history of the current church, as well as that of the former church—destroyed in 1918—using a small booklet provided for your convenience. In it, you’ll find a presentation of the remarkable furnishings housed in Notre-Dame Church. A volunteer on site will be available to answer your questions. The tour will continue in the sacristy, which will be open especially for this occasion.
