Le répertoire pour orgue et chœurs recèle de petites et de grandes merveilles que nous voudrions partager avec vous. Parmi elles, La Cathédrale Incendiée, œuvre composée par Albert Alain, rarement donnée en concert, ainsi que quelques pièces de Jehan Alain, son fils et frère de la très célèbre organiste Marie-Claire Alain, qui éclaireront la première partie de ce concert.
Nous partagerons ensuite ce chef-d’œuvre romantique écrit en pleine maturité, le Requiem de Fauré. Dès sa création, il frappa les auditeurs par son caractère serein et intime, en totale rupture avec le caractère tourmenté, spectaculaire, quasi opératique des Requiem de Berlioz ou de Verdi. Œuvre bouleversante, d’une grande humilité et d’une ferveur contenue, sans tristesse, au-delà du liturgique dans un langage de foi universel.Tout public

The repertoire for organ and choir is brimming with small and grand marvels that we would like to share with you. Among them is *La Cathédrale Incendée*, a work composed by Albert Alain that is rarely performedin concert, as well as several pieces by Jehan Alain—his son and brother of the renowned organist Marie-Claire Alain—which will highlight the first part of this concert.
We will then share this Romantic masterpiece written in his prime, Fauré’s Requiem. From its very premiere, it struck listeners with its serene and intimate character, a complete departure from the tormented, spectacular, almost operatic nature of the Requiems by Berlioz or Verdi. A deeply moving work, marked by great humility and restrained fervor, devoid of sadness, transcending the liturgical to speak in a universal language of faith.
