Ludwig van Beethoven Symphonie n° 3, Eroica

Avec Portrait d’orchestre, le scénographe et metteur en scène Aurélien Bory donne une version très originale de la Troisième Symphonie Eroica de Beethoven, offrant la possibilité d’entendre et de regarder un concert à la manière d’un tableau vivant, dans un rapport à l’image toujours changeant, au plus près de la portée émotionnelle de la musique. Grâce à un système de caméras fixées aux pupitres et une équipe de vidéastes circulant parmi l’Orchestre, le spectateur accède au coeur de la symphonie, se concentrant sur la puissance du collectif, les visages, les présences et les intensités qui le composent. Captées et projetées en direct, les images des musiciennes et musiciens deviennent alors le véritable théâtre d’une émotion. Cette attention à ce que Gilles Deleuze appelait les affects donne à voir Beethoven comme une aventure humaine autant que sonore une aventure qui sera portée du violon par la supersoliste de l’Orchestre, Éléonore Darmon.

With *Portrait d’orchestre*, set designer and director Aurélien Bory presents a highly original interpretation of Beethoven’s Third Symphony, *Eroica*, offering the opportunityto hear and watch a concert as if it were a living tableau, with an ever-changing visual perspective that captures the emotional impact of the music as closely as possible. Thanks to a system of cameras mounted on the music stands and a team of videographers moving among the orchestra, the viewer is transported to the heart of the symphony, focusing on the power of the ensemble, the faces, the presence, and the intensity that make it up. Captured and projected live, the images of the musicians then become the true stage for emotion. This focus on what Gilles Deleuze called “affects” reveals Beethoven as a human adventure as much as a musical one—an adventure that will be carried by the violin of the orchestra’s superstar soloist, Éléonore Darmon.
